Ask an Austin HVAC owner when the money comes in and they will talk about July. Ask them when they staff the phone and a lot of them will still describe a Monday-through-Friday desk. The two answers cannot both be true. People sit in hot houses on Saturday. They call whoever still picks up. They do not wait for office hours because the listing said 8 to 6 on a weekday they are not living in.
Overtime vs. a live line
Paying a tech time-and-a-half is a different problem from having nobody to book them. You can have two trucks rolling and still miss the third call because the only person who knows the calendar is at a soccer game. That third call is often the full-system replacement, not the filter change. Weekend inbound skews urgent. Urgent skews expensive.
The “we’ll get it Monday” lie
Some shops let Saturday ring through to a mailbox with a cheerful recording. The customer who is sweating does not find that charming. They have four other numbers on the same search page. Measuring Monday’s callback list as Saturday demand is how you tell yourself you were busy enough.
A Saturday that is actually open
Open means a person or a line that can take the job, put it on a truck, and text an arrival window. It does not mean a Facebook message you will see at 9 p.m. If the hours on the door and the hours on Google say Saturday, the phone has to match, or you should change the hours. Lying to the listing is still lying, even if you are tired.
